One who carries a tenderness and a belief that something good might exist, after a long time of fearing precisely that, mostly because it feels unfamiliar.
Pointing forward, toward the possibility of belief for once and not something solely defined by the past.
In Mark Fisher’s concept of Capitalist Realism, the perceived absence of alternatives describes a condition in which capitalism so thoroughly shapes reality that imagining other possibilities
becomes difficult, if not impossible. I’ve found myself reflecting on how new ways of seeing and being may be forced to the surface, from within a tiring haze.
The Havaianas appear as an element of lightness, something immediate. They offer little protection: to wear them is to feel slightly exposed.
They almost do not belong, feeling a little too simple. They are moving in a light haze – not in dissolution, but a gentle transition.
Steps require caution – as in quicksand, one must move slowly in order not to sink deeper.
On one hand, stagnation – a realism in which what exists feels inevitable and repetitive. On the other, a cautious opening toward something else.
An idealism that is not naive, but inherently fragile.
Not a rupture between the two, but a slow shift in tempo, an eluding change in perception.
The light is not opposed to the darkness, but something that gradually grows out of it.
